Casa Ballena sits in the hills above Uvita with a long, open view down the coast — the sort of outlook people come to this stretch looking for and then struggle to find with road access this easy. Ten minutes from town, on 1.2 acres, built in 2019.

Two Buildings, Not One

The main residence has three bedrooms. Separate from it, there is a one-bedroom caretaker’s house — so four bedrooms in total, but arranged as two buildings rather than four doors off one hallway. That distinction matters depending on what you want the place to be. For an owner living here it means staff or a manager on site without sharing the house. For anyone renting it out, it means someone can be there when you are not, which is the single biggest practical problem with running a rental on this coast remotely.

The Pool Terrace

A long pool runs the length of the terrace with the ocean beyond it, and there is enough hard landscaping around it to hold loungers, shade and a built-in outdoor kitchen without anything feeling crowded. This is where the house spends its time. Note that the MLS listing omits the pool entirely, which is worth knowing if a buyer has been comparing records rather than photographs.

Inside

Open-plan living under vaulted timber ceilings, with glass along the ocean side and the dining table set where the view is. The kitchen is dark-cabinetted and full-size, and it opens back into the living space rather than being closed off.

The primary suite takes the view too, with a freestanding tub in a bathroom glazed to the planting. The guest rooms are finished in hardwood, and one is fitted for more than two — useful for families rather than couples.

Six Parking Spaces

Not a glamorous detail, but a rare one. Most houses on these hillsides manage two. If you intend to have people here — guests, family, a rental turnover — it removes a problem you would otherwise have every week.

Where It Is

Ten minutes above Uvita, so Marino Ballena National Park, the Whale’s Tail sandbar and the beaches are close, along with the restaurants and boutique hotels that have opened along this stretch in recent years. Dominical is twenty minutes north.
