Lagunas sits in the hills behind Dominical, and Casa Montaña sits near the top of them — 1,880 feet up, high enough that most of the year you sleep with the windows open and the air conditioning off. The house is oriented 220 degrees southwest, which means sunset over the Pacific for the majority of the calendar rather than a few months of it. Built in 2022.
The Layout
5,091 square feet, five bedrooms, four and a half baths — all under one roof. That is rarer here than it sounds, since most estates this size get split between a main house and a casita. A gated entrance and paved drive climb to a covered arrival and circular motor court. Inside, the great room runs living, dining and kitchen together, and the bi-fold glass doors fold away completely, so the room opens onto the pool terrace with nothing in between. Granite counters, solid wood cabinetry, an island seating five, a dining table for ten, and custom Laurel wood ceilings throughout.
Two guest bedrooms sit on the main level with a shared bath and their own access to the terrace and gardens. Upstairs, a second lounge with a built-in bar opens onto both a covered balcony and an open terrace — shade in the afternoon, sun in the morning. The primary suite is set apart, with a large private balcony, dual vanities, a soaking tub and a walk-in shower. Two further guest suites have en-suites and balconies of their own. Every bedroom in the house has an ocean view. So does every bathroom.
Outside
The infinity pool has a shallow lounging shelf at one end, which matters if there are children, or if you simply want to sit in the water with a book. A thatched gazebo works as a full outdoor kitchen — granite, sink, mini fridge, Weber grill — and an indoor-outdoor bathroom opens off the deck so nobody crosses the living room wet. There is an outdoor heated shower, and hammocks in the shade.
The Land
3.44 acres, walkable rather than vertical, planted deliberately to draw wildlife — hummingbirds and butterflies constantly, toucans often. It has its own drilled well, solar panels and backup power, and no HOA. The main level is fully accessible including a code-compliant bathroom, which is worth saying plainly because almost nothing on this coast is.
Getting Around
Twelve minutes of scenic driving from the paved road, then five more into Dominical — beaches, surf, restaurants, groceries, a brewery and a wine bar. Far enough up the mountain to be genuinely private, close enough that dinner out is not an expedition.
